Doodle Drift

A doodled paper airplane drifts across a page of ruled notebook paper while erasers and pencils sail in from the right. Tap or press space to flap, thread the gap between each pair, and snap up the gold sticker floating in the middle. Stickers are the only score, so grab glide, shield, and magnet power-ups, pick your difficulty, and unlock four plane skins as your best climbs.

How to play

You are a doodled paper airplane drifting across a page of ruled notebook paper, and the stationery has taken flight. Erasers and pencils sail in from the right in pairs, one high and one low, with a gap between them. Tap the play area or press space to flap, which is the only control you get. Gravity pulls you down the rest of the time, so you climb in little hops and glide back toward the line.

A gold sticker floats in the middle of every gap, and stickers are your entire score. Slipping past a pencil safely earns you nothing on its own, so aim for the sticker, not just the opening.

~
The core move: flap up through the gap between the eraser and the pencil, and take the sticker sitting in the middle of it. Power-up bubbles drift in behind some pairs.
The page edges bite too
Touching an eraser or a pencil crumples you, but so does clipping the very top or the very bottom of the page. Nothing protects you from the edges, not even a shield, so leave yourself room above and below.

What flies at you

Eraser: the chunky one, roughly twice as tall as a pencil. It stares straight ahead and has no opinion about you, but its bulk eats into the opening.
Pencil: thin and sour faced, sharpened at the nose. The same length as an eraser but far slimmer, so a pencil pair leaves a noticeably wider opening and is the friendlier draw.
Sticker: one per gap, worth +1. Every sticker nudges the scroll speed up, and every eighth one shortens the wait between pairs, so a long run gets genuinely faster and busier.

Power-ups

Roughly one pair in six trails a coloured bubble behind it. Fly into it and you get about seven seconds of that power, counted down in the banner under the score. You can only hold one at a time: grabbing a new bubble replaces whatever you were running.

A bubble arrives at its own height, unrelated to the gap it follows, so collecting one usually means deliberately leaving the safe line to go and get it. That choice is the real cost of a power-up.

~Glide: gravity drops to just under half its normal pull, so you sink slowly. Your flap is gentler too, which makes the plane far easier to place inside a narrow gap.
OShield: a dashed blue ring. The next eraser or pencil you touch is knocked out of the page in a puff instead of ending your run, and the shield is spent on that one hit.
UMagnet: a dashed red circle. Any sticker inside it comes flying to you, so you can take a gap off centre and still collect.
Shield bubbleShield bubble
Magnet reachMagnet reach
Both rings drawn at the same scale. The shield is a bubble tight to the plane, the magnet reaches more than three times further, which is why it changes how you fly a gap and the shield does not.
Spend the shield on purpose
A shield is a free mistake, and it is the only one you get. If you are already lined up cleanly, let it ride and save it for the pair you know you have misjudged.

Pick your difficulty

Chosen on the menu before you launch. It sets four things at once: how fast the page scrolls, how hard gravity pulls, how wide the gap between each pair is, and how often pairs arrive. That last one is the easiest to miss and it bites hardest: Chaos sends pairs at you half again as often as Gentle, on top of the narrower gaps.

Gentle
Normal
Chaos
The white band is the opening you get to fly through, drawn to scale for each setting.
Gentle: the widest gap, the slowest scroll, the lightest gravity and the longest wait between pairs. The one to learn the flap on.
Normal: a noticeably tighter gap, quicker scroll, a heavier plane and pairs arriving closer together.
Chaos: the narrowest gap, the fastest page, the most crowded stream of pairs, and the erasers and pencils now drift up and down as they come at you, bouncing off the top and bottom of the page. The gap moves while you aim for it.

Unlock the planes

Four skins, unlocked by your best sticker count rather than the current run, and swapped on the menu. They are pure decoration: every plane flies exactly the same.

Tips

  • Flap in small taps rather than long bursts. One flap is a fixed hop, so two in quick succession sends you far higher than you meant to go.
  • Aim for the sticker and the gap mostly takes care of itself: it always spawns dead centre of the gap. On a mismatched pair the eraser eats a little more of its side, so the sticker sits a hair off the true middle of the opening.
  • A pencil pair is the widest opening you can be dealt and an eraser pair the tightest. On a mixed pair, favour the pencil half: it gives back about ten pixels the eraser takes away.
  • Glide is the power-up to hope for on Chaos: the slow sink buys you time to read a gap that is still moving.
  • The run speeds up with every sticker you take, so the last stretch of a good run is always the hardest part of it.

The menu also carries a sound toggle, which mutes both the chiptune loop and the effects for the whole session.

No account and nothing to save: your best score, your unlocked skins and your chosen difficulty last for the session and reset when you reload the page.
