Plaque Attack

A cute turn-based grid-tactics campaign where you play a colony of adorable plaque bacteria spreading across teeth. Spread onto new tiles to hit each level's quota, keep plaque alive for two turns so it hardens into brush-proof tartar, and read the telegraphed toothbrush, mouthwash, and drill attacks. Evolve Jumpers and Queens across 12 levels and four mouths, then bring down the Great Brush.

How to play

You are Spike, a spiky (but adorable) plaque bacteria. Each turn you get three actions. Tap one of your bacteria, then tap a glowing next-door tile to spread a new one onto it (one action). The moment your colony reaches the level's plaque quota you win it outright. If you cannot get there this turn, end your turn and the cleaning crew fights back before your next move. The only way to lose is to let them scrub away your last bacteria, which wipes the colony and sends you back to retry the room; there is no turn limit, so a slow clear only costs stars.

🍬
Spread across the enamel to hit the quota. Plaque that lives long enough hardens into tartar (the amber tiles), a floss wall blocks the way, a sugar crumb waits on the left, and the toothbrush is telegraphed on the bottom row.
Let it harden into tartar
Any plaque that survives two full turns hardens into tartar. The toothbrush and the mouthwash cannot touch tartar, so it is your permanent territory: only the drill (and the boss slam) can break it. Keep the tiles you care about alive for two turns and they are locked in.

The cleaning crew

Everything the enemy does is telegraphed one turn ahead, so you can read it and spread clear:

The toothbrush sweeps a whole row (later, two rows), marked in amber. It wipes bacteria and fresh plaque, but not tartar. The row it sweeps rotates each turn.
Mouthwash marks columns in blue, then floods them next turn. It also cannot dissolve tartar.
The drill paints a red target, then strikes it next turn. It is the one thing that destroys anything, tartar included, so spread away from its mark.
🍬
Floss walls block spreading. Sugar crumbs refund the action you spend to spread onto them, so that move is free, and a fresh crumb drops every third turn.

Evolve your colony

Spend actions to turn a basic bacteria into something stronger:

A Jumper (one action, unlocks in mouth two) can leap two tiles in a line, even hopping straight over floss walls to open a new front.
A Queen (two actions, unlocks in mouth three) spawns a free bacteria next to her every enemy turn. She is your engine, but only two Queens can rule at once, so protect them.
Two special moves
Clear the first mouth to unlock Sugar Rush (plus two actions, once per level), and reach the third mouth to unlock Sticky Shield (your colony survives one whole enemy turn unharmed). Save them for the turn that would otherwise wipe you out.

Twelve levels, four mouths

The campaign runs across four mouths of three levels each, getting bigger and meaner as you go:

  • 🧒 Timmy's Baby Teeth
  • Uncle Gary's Coffee Chompers
  • 🏴‍☠️ Captain Sweettooth's Grin
  • 🦷 The Dentist's Office

It ends in a boss fight against The Great Brush (12 HP), which sweeps two rows and slams 3x3 zones. There is no quota there: instead, every tile that newly hardens into tartar during the enemy phase deals it one point of damage, so bring it to zero. Clear a level in par turns or fewer for three stars. Your stars and unlocked levels are saved in your browser.

Tips

  • Spread wide, not in a clump, so one toothbrush row or mouthwash flood cannot cost you the whole colony.
  • Nurse a few tiles to tartar early: permanent territory the brush can never take back is how you out-pace the cleaning.
  • Read the telegraphs before you commit your last action: amber rows and blue columns tell you exactly where not to be.
  • Get a Queen up as soon as you can and keep her clear of the drill's marks, since her free spawns are what win the race.
  • Route your spreads through sugar crumbs to stretch three actions into four.
